branch meetings 2011-2012

Branch meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday of every month at either the First Congregational Church (FCC), 210 Orchard Ridge Road, Chappaqua or at the Greenburgh Public Library (GPL), 300 Tarrytown Road, Elmsford, unless otherwise noted. All are welcome, including guests and other non-members.

In case of inclement weather, news of any cancellation or delay will be on radio stations WHUD (100.7 FM) or WFAS (103.9 FM).

THEME: CONNECTIONS

Sep 7: Internationally themed pot-luck supper, members bring a traditional dish to share. Program: Women's Stories: Vignettes by Elaine Hartel and Phyllis Kirigin (FCC, 6:00 pm)

Oct 5: My Sister's Keeper: AAUW-NYS project to foster greater understanding of the plight of women worldwide and within our borders. Speakers: Joan Monk and Melissa Guardaro (FCC, 10:30 am)

Nov 2: Women's Work, Not Just in the Kitchen: Woman painters - Part 2. Speaker: Natalie Schifano (GPL, 5:30 pm)

Dec 4: Holiday Luncheon at Casaletto Ristorante in Elmsford. Bring Toys for Tots. Program: Personal Immigration Stories by selected members of our branch. (12 noon)

Jan 4: Women Who Make a Difference in Public Life.
Speaker: To be announced (GPL, 10:30 am)

Feb 1: Snow date for January meeting. If January meeting is held as scheduled, there will be no meeting. (GPL, 10:30 am)

Mar 7: Forever Green: Celebrating a Century of Girl Scouting and Beyond. Speaker: Jean Havens (GPL, 10:30 am)

Apr 4: Annual branch meeting to vote on budget and slate of officers. Program: One Woman's Connection with the United States Army. Speaker: Mary E. Westmoreland, Colonel, US Army (GPL, 6:00 pm)

May 2: Installation of branch officers. Program: In Our Own Voice: Living with Mental Illness. Stories of Recovery. Speakers: Roxanne Johnson & Linda Weintraub, National Association of Mental Illness (GPL, 6:00 pm)

June 6: Final Fling at St. Andrews Golf Course. Program: Honoring our Westchester Community College Scholarship recipients (6:00 pm)

Special Events 2011-2012

Oct 6:  7 - 9 p.m.  in NYC.  United Women in Business Foundation is presenting a panel discussion:  Negotiating Pay and Promotions.  Our own Roli Wendorf will be a panelist.   For details see the flyer.

Oct 11: AAUW-NYS United Nations Day. This special program will focus on gender equality and sustainable development. Held at the UN and ICO Center. 9:15 am to 3:15 pm.

Oct 29 : District V Conference hosted by our branch this year at the Unitarian Society, Hastings-on-Hudson. Theme: COMMUNICATION. 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Mar 17: Explore Your Opportunities conference for 7th grade girls at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale (Bronx) from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.

April 17th: Benefit Luncheon at Westchester Community College;  save the date, details forthcoming.

Apr 20-22: AAUW NYS State Convention at the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa, Rochester NY.

May 12 : New members' welcome coffee at Selena Barron's home in Hartsdale at 10:00 am.

council and board meetings

Council and Board meetings are usually held on the third Wednesday of every month at 10:00 am unless otherwise noted. Locations vary and are indicated.

The Council meetings are attended by Branch Council members and on invitation from the Branch President/AVP. All members are welcome to attend Board meetings.
