Branch "Action Groups" endeavor to reach out into the
community and make a difference. These groups are the grassroots
activism that is the excitement and foundation of AAUW.

Community Service action group
volunteers at community service providers. Collects and distributes items to local groups such as the Bedford
Women's Prison.
equity in education action group
promotes equitable education for girls and women, fosters an understanding
of what constitutes gender equity and sexual harassment in our schools,
and reaches out to the community and area schools to achieve its
goals.
Educational Awards
gives scholarships and awards to outstanding local students through
the Branch scholarship program.
Female eighth graders receive AAUW certificates for excellence in math and science.
Female seniors are awarded for excellence in creative as well as formal writing,
service to their school, academic ability, and potential for service to women.

pay equity outreach action group
promotes pay equity for women by conducting $tart $mart workshops at local colleges and universities. These workshops teach awareness of the pay gap, how to determine appropriate salaries for different positions, and develop pay negotiation skills.

Publicity
works with all aspects of the media to get the word out about our
dynamic programs and projects. By successfully publicizing our events
we are able to increase the impact of our efforts.

Public Policy/Voter Education
action group
explains AAUW’s role in protecting the rights of women and families. We make a ifference by creating awareness and promoting activism. We also work to advance AAUW's public policy issues through voter education and community outreach.

Tech Savvy Girls action group
encourages girls to continue their studies in science, technology, engineering and
math (STEM) to keep all career paths open to them. Tech Savvy Girls'
flagship program is the amazing Explore Your Opportunities--the Sky's the Limit! Conference, co-sponsored with the College of Mount Saint Vincent. We're exploring a second STEM activity in improving spatial visualization and reasoning skills in girls.
